Its NOT only kids that say the darndest things!

One of my many part time jobs is at the sleep lab at the Hershey Med Center. I am a hook up tech, which means that I hook up the patients to lots of equipment that we use to determine the results of their specific test. Anyway that's really not the point. Tonight one of the patients, an older woman in her late 60's-ish was making small talk and asked when I was due. Then if I knew if it was a boy or girl. I told her we were having a girl. She immediately told me she figured I was having a girl "because you carry girls all over", and mimicked a large round face with her hands. I smiled politely, because to be quite honest with you I carry all of my kids "all over". However I was wondering if its just me or if there is an unwritten rule that after a certain age you have some sort of "free pass" to say things that most people would just keep to themselves??? And most people don't really take the same offense if you are older than 65. Is that part of the Senior benefit package??? I'm not really complaining, because I think I will want any "benefit" I can get myself after a certain age! I was just wondering if I can count on that benefit? What do you think?

Okay, can I just say I have been thinking of you. I am doing well. Cut all my hair off for my 30th b-day. Bad move but oh-well. Yes our little girl Annabelle is 9 months and your little guy is so big. Your prego I see. Too fun. Email me and lets catch up on the phone. sisterhelal@hotmail.com

Yes, Kellie, the older they get, the more they say... Some of the most shocking, funny, and impertinent things I have ever heard have come from elderly people. Those little 90 year old ladies have me in stiches most of the time:)

But I do think we can count on that benefit ourselves:) As long as we raise our kids to know that it's coming!

I think they just get to a point that they don't really care what others think. Kind of like when your a little kid. You don't really care, or think too much of what you are saying. If you think it, you say it! And if someone else gets offended, oh well, there problem. I would get quite a kick out of the elderly as well when I worked with them. I think that is why I liked working with them. They would tell ya what is up. And you don't look like you carry it all over, I think you look very cute! :)

That's funny. Unfortunately there are a few people that have no tact no matter how old they are.

Kellie I love it! I got so many crazy crazy out of this world rude comments from patients at the sleep lab and not just the 65 year olds. It actually became a joke with everyone there, so I would report any wild comments so everyone could laugh with me. Lane said a few of the best. Send him my regards will ya?

Yeah, I think you can say anything when you get old. You'll totally get your free-er speech pass in the mail once you turn 75 or 80. Before that it's still a little risky/rude. :)

The real question is did you show her your legs? That's way more impressive than a little weight gain all over. I too must carry all over even after birth!
